About Katy Explorer
I love food, especially Asian food. After living in Katy for a couple of years, I realized I had already visited so many restaurants, yet new ones still pop up on my radar almost every week.
Like everyone else, I spend a lot of time on social media, probably more hours than I should admit. The more food content I follow, the more the algorithm feeds me. Those photos and videos always look great, shot from the perfect angle, and they make me want to go try the place. But sometimes I get there and the food turns out to be overpriced and not very good. Should I really be surprised when most of that content is paid for by the restaurants?
That is one of the reasons I started this site. A few years ago, I followed a handful of food creators whose content felt genuine and relatable. Over time, as they grew more popular and worked on more collaborations, the tone shifted. The content was polished, but it also started to feel fake.
So how do you spot a fake review? From my experience, if a post shows more than five dishes at once, it is probably not a regular visit. Most people cannot eat like that every single day, not in this economy. Another giveaway is long, polished captions that sound more like marketing copy than a real person sharing an opinion.
Of course, there are still people posting honest reviews, and to them I want to say thank you. I still enjoy following food creators, and I respect that it is their job. I even use their content as inspiration to find new spots. The difference is that when I visit a place, I share my honest take here.
I hope you find my reviews helpful.
See you around Katy.
